Thread: NBA Season 2009-2010

In reality the NBA was never deep with good teams with the exception of 2006 and beyond. In the 90s and 80s there were like 3 great teams, the rest really wasn't a factor, and they didn't have too many good teams. In the 90s (jordan championships) you had Bulls, Rockets, Jazz, and MAYBE you can throw in the Suns but they werent a great team honestly. I think there are more GOOD teams in todays game, but the GREAT teams in the 90s are better than todays teams. Talent wise Lakers can play with them but they don't have the heart but they did finally show solid heart in game 7 but they dont play like that consistently. Boston 2010 playoffs and 07-08 can stand with the big dawgs of the past and beat most of them.

One thing that gets me is Kobe wouldn't win titles without such and such but that rule never applied to Jordan needing Pippen because he did. Or Magic needing Kareem or etc etc. In the 80s the Celts and Lakers were stack with Hall of Famers. Pistons had HOF players. Those franchises didn't just have 1 or 2 stars on the team like the 90s Bulls did or todays team, those teams were loaded with HOF'ers.

I agree with that. It is more good teams compared to the 90s but I think teams of the 90s had other ways of beating you. They werent as athletic as athletes are now but they have other ways of beating you. I think they were mentality tougher.

That argument KILLS me each time. People overlook how important Pippen was to Jordan. He got close to winning a title with Jordan. Jordan NEEDED Pippen as much as ppl downplay it. That rule should apply to Jordan. I've heard few ppl argue the case for Scottie over the last few years and i'm sure that debate will come up later on this year when the Hall of fame draws near since he is getting in this year with Malone. I think ppl have to just quit with the Kobe needed such n such argument now because he has won TWO probably going on 3 w/o Shaq so argument is DEAD. They always have to use something against Kobe. Jordan has his strengths and Kobe has his both are all-time greats. Only difference now is Kobe is still playing and Jordan is owning the Bobcats while doing other things.

Speaking of Jordan, a friend of mine hit me up and told me that Jordan MIGHT be in NBA 2K11 as a playable character and MIGHT be on the cover.

I actually cant wait until the draft though. Clearly Wall is going no1. Now whether Arenas should be traded... I don't think so. Yes what he did was stupid but trading him wont help. He probably wont accept being the two option but he will get his.

Jordan is on the cover on NBA 2K11, and most likely he will be a playable character on the 90s bulls and old school all-stars. It would be nice if they added the dream team this year. Jordan in a basketball game is WAY overdue. But it's like with Mike Tyson, after there careers are way over then they finally decide to particpate in video games to earn more money.

Yeah no more Roster Player BS.. He is rarely in games I konw it was Lakers vs Celtics Bulls vs Lakers and Bulls vs Blazers and the NBA playoffs, and the early NBA games of the 00s. Lately they have taken alot of the Legends out of the game. They should add the dream team at the very least. I know most ppl don't like playing with the Legends but i want to use em. I know in 2K5 you could do that. All-time Lakers All-Time Celtics All-Time Sixers etc...

Interesting but honestly I wasn't even feeling NBA 2K10 so 11 is meh for me. 2K9 on the other hand was my shit. 2K11 had better come up with more than MJ because Live is steadily improving imo. I actually think I preferred Live over 2K10 for the first time in I don't know how long.

The Nielsen Co. said Tuesday that 28.2 million people watched Kobe Bryant's Lakers win their second straight NBA championship. It was the most-watched NBA game since Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to their sixth championship over the Utah Jazz in 1998.
Props to the NBA on this one. I'm glad to see them achieve such high ratings and for the Lakers to be involved in it. Maybe this can help the sport grow. Basketball is popular but not everyone watches the games. It will be very interesting to see what kind of ratings a LeBron vs. Kobe would do if they ever met in the Finals. Just like 2 years ago this series made old basketball fans return to watching the game to see the renewed rivalary. It wasn't about superstar vs. superstar or anything, just good old fashion Lakers vs. Celtics.

I think the NBA would attract more high ratings like this if there were more Game 7's and or if the series weren't so long. If they had the NCAA style of rules (which I don't recommend) then they would be hitting in the 15+ million range nearly every night for the playoffs.

    Speaking of NBA live.

Redwood City, Calif. – Tuesday, June 22, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that Oklahoma City Thunder small forward, Kevin Durant, will be the cover athlete for NBA ELITE 11. A 2010 NBA All-Star, Durant became the youngest player in NBA history to lead the league in scoring this past season, and he helped lead the Thunder to an impressive 50 win season and an NBA Playoffs berth. NBA ELITE 11 is currently in development under the EA SPORTS™ brand by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. and will be available worldwide this October.

NBA ELITE 11 introduces significant gameplay changes that promise to revolutionize the basketball videogame experience. Hands-On Control is an innovative new control scheme that allows for one-to-one responsiveness of a player’s movement and actions on the court, as opposed to predetermined animations from the past that require users to wait while a scenario played out before making the next move. Hands-On Control is unique to NBA ELITE 11 and it is used to manage everything within a player’s offensive and defensive arsenal, including: dribble moves, dunks, drives to the basket, fadeaways, mid-air adjustments, blocks, steals and more.

“I’ve always been a fan of EA SPORTS,” said Durant. “This has been an exciting year for me and the team, and capping it off with being on the cover of NBA ELITE 11 is cool.”

“Durant is a game changer,” said Jordan Edelstein, VP Marketing, EA SPORTS. “There has never been a player his size with his skill set, and there has never before been a basketball videogame like NBA ELITE. Just like we see Durant as the future of the NBA, NBA ELITE 11 represents the future of basketball videogames by providing a gameplay experience you simply won’t find anywhere else on the market.”
Picked second overall in the 2007 NBA Entry Draft, Durant has accumulated an impressive list of accomplishments in his short professional career, including being named the 2008 T-Mobile NBA Rookie of the Year. Additionally, he will be representing the USA in the 2010 FIBA World Championships this summer in Turkey.

Durant is only the third player in EA SPORTS history to be featured both on the pack of an NCAA and an NBA licensed product. Durant was featured on the cover of NCAA March Madness 08.

NBA ELITE 11 will be available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB. For more information, log onto http://nbaelite.easports.com
I might get Elite this year over 2K. I might alternate between the two each year.

Yeah they needed this badly. NBA doesn't have alot of great rivarly except that one. It's been a while since the NBA has had a compelling finals between two good/great teams where it was anyone's ball game. Bulls Jazz of course. The same series everyone said was going to be a dud because it was a rematch of 97 and it turned out to be better than the 97 series imo. I still argue that the Jazz should have won that title but the past is the past.
